Humanities Now!

With Outdoor School fast approaching, we have been getting busy with learning about our land and what makes up our country. Students have been learning about the seven continents and practising reading and creating maps. We will have our first quiz next Thursday November 14th. Students will be given a blank outline of the map of Canada, and will be expected to include the following:

  • 10 provinces
  • 3 territories
  • Capital city of each province and territory
  • Capital city of the country
  • Oceans
Students have completed a mapping assignment in class, and may use this as a study guide. Ms. Hosseini will host a tutorial on the morning of Wednesday November 13th at 8am for additional support. Students have used this map in class and may use this as a study guide as well http://www.geographicguide.net/america/canada.htm .

We began learning about natural resources, and the difference between renewable and nonrenewable resources. This will lead us into our study of the regions in Canada. You may chat about natural resources in our daily lives, and whether or not they are sustainable. What advantages and disadvantage do they present to our society?

Here is a video we watched in class to start our conversation:
