This week students have been reminded to share any missing assignments with their teachers. Weather graph and analysis questions Organism posters with life cycle & food chain Natural Resource brochures In math, we focused on strategies for multiplying two-digit by two-digit numbers.  Remember to check the pages section of the blog for review videos and practice. Try one at home! In science, we are gathering all our knowledge together to design one of the five types of wetlands as a group. Students are asked to think of any materials at home that may be useful for construction.  Some items that we brainstormed are: cotton balls Qtips thin cardboard craft paper If you are planning to bring items, bring them in a large Ziploc with your name on the bag to ensure they are not lost. Looking forward to sharing our event maps, photos, video and outdoor school journals next week!

It was a busy and exciting week as we planned and prepared for Outdoor school! In science, students explored weather patterns and long range forecasts for Kananaskis to determine appropriate clothing. Using charts and tables, we prepared a plan based on the information gathered. In math, we worked with arrays and partial products to develop multiplication strategies. Remember to share what nature name you've selected and explain how we used the woodshop to create our name tags. See you Monday in the foyer at 8:15 (messenger was sent with full details)!

Math: All student weather graphing projects are due Tuesday. Your final work should include: a graph with all appropriate labels-presentation matters! Complete chart with all data rounded to the nearest whole number Questions/analyses  completed in complete sentences. Please share your math fluency results! We have checked our fluency with single-digit multiplication (two through 7 times table up to twelve). The goal is to help students gain a strong foundation, a high degree of procedural skill and fluency, and the ability to apply the math they know to solve problems. Fact families can be reviewed and solidified through practice and games. Up next is two-digit by two-digit multiplication using  Arrays Partial product lattice traditional methods Each student will explore the different methods. This helps students develop their understanding of patterns and the relationship between numbers in math. They are welcome to use the strategy that is most succ...
