Parent approval

All students have selected a science experiment topic. Please discuss and review the topic with your child. They will need to have supplies for practice Wednesday and presentation next Tuesday.

As a scientist, you are expected to explore past experiments and test the theory presented. Your task is to
showcase your chemistry skills and understanding of the scientific vocabulary through a science
experiment of your choosing.

This experiment will be conducted at school using the supplies you provide from home. It is important
that you plan your experiment, discuss it with your teacher, then your parent to receive approval.
After the research and approval process, you will be given class time to conduct the science experiment
and present your findings to the class.

Your experiment must…
  • show a Physical OR Chemical change
  • be approved by the teacher and your parent
  • include an experiment write-up and demonstration
Side Note: No doubles or slime!

Our timeline:
Day 1-2:
Monday, March 9th
Tuesday, March 10th
  • Explore and choose an experiment- record the website or source of
your experiment (if able)
  • Write the proposal including Problem/Question, Materials, Hypothesis
and Procedure
  • Get materials organized at home
  • BY END DAY ONE Teacher/Parent Approval
  • Return parent signed approval sheets
Day 3:
Wednesday, March 11th
  • Practice Experiments (in class if needed)
  • Work on Write-ups “Outcomes” and “Drawing”
  • Work on demonstration (video, slide or poster)
Day 4:
Monday, March 16th
  • Finalize Experiments
  • Finalize Write-ups “Outcomes” and “Drawing”
  • Work on demonstration (video, slide or poster)
Day 5:
Tuesday, March 17th
  • Science Fair (sharing our experiments, drawing and all reported findings
with our classmates)
  • ALL WRITTEN WORK and demonstration DUE****

Math:
As we continue exploring space and shape, students can look at how to measure a room, determine its area and perimeter. We continue to expand our strategies for division.
Students have practiced:
-fact families

Our house project will be due next Thursday.
