Mid September


  • Our classes 5-1 & 5-2 would like to head to our local wetland on Wednesday, September 25th (9:30-12:30).  In order to do this, we will need 5 volunteers to join us. Please email us ASAP if you would be able to attend. 
  • Math: Exploring large numbers.  World Population Tracker As we explore place value and large numbers, we have looked at the world around us to find examples. Take a moment to look at the population tracker. What place values are changing? What are the implications of this data?
  • Science: As we learn about the difference between weather and climate, we are examining how humans are impacted and what roles we play. Please explore current weather events. Focus on where it occurred and how humans were impacted. 
  • Humanities: We will be starting a Current Events task which will last throughout the school year. This will be a great opportunity for students to develop their creative and presentational skills!

Parents : Please be sure to read and fill out all forms for Outdoor School and return them by November 4th. Please note that payments can be made online ( MyCBE/PowerSchool ) anytime prior to departure (unless arrangements have been made with legmcrae@cbe.ab.ca ).  In the package, you will keep all white pages and return all colored pages ( PINK ). Be sure to fill out the medication forms ( BLUE ) as indicated and have all medications prepared as indicated (labeled, original container, zip-loc bag & not packed in student luggage) for November 18th. Outdoor School Prep!

As we prepare for outdoor school, here are a few comments and reminders. So far the long-range forecast is looking great! Having said that, please ensure that your child brings the following items (as per the packing list sent in the original package): Basic Daily clothing that can be layered 1-2 Pyjamas  2-3 Sweaters /hoodies 2 Pants (comfortable ones that can go under the snow pants) 2-3 T-shirts 4-6 Pairs of socks (extra is an easy addition!) 4-6 Underwear (may get damp under snow pants) Slippers, thick socks or indoor shoes for the lodges and dorms Remember, that your child will have a layer on when they head to school. So if they are wearing a hoodie, they may not need 3 more!
